Elementary School Day

Under-resourced schools means that teachers are usually left with overcrowded classrooms and little to no prep periods that allow them to prepare curriculum for the school day. CSSP’s day mentors help, at least in a little way, to support our hard-working teachers. As a day mentor, Penn students will have a variety of responsibilities; tutoring individual students, performing helpful administrative tasks, managing the class during work time, or even presenting short lessons. Working during the day allows Penn students to get a realistic idea of how public schools are run, and students often form close relationships with the teachers they work with.
